Park One Point Perspective Assignment Due Wed, April 11th
I hope everyone is having a great spring break! Here is the example of the one point perspective outdoor space assignment due the Wednesday after the break. One point is all that's required but if you would like to attempt one with both one point and two point, by all means. Happy Easter and I will see you all Monday!

Wednesday March 28th
As I mentioned in class, I will not be able to make it to class on Wednesday, March 28th, our last class before spring break. There is a chance we will still have class and another teacher will be subbing for me. The homework assignment will be due that Monday, March 26th instead. It is similar to the last homework assignment of the cubes in one point perspective, the only difference is it is in two point which I will go over in class and post an example of. We will also go over the assignment that you will have over the break.
Dorm Room One Point Perspective: Due March 21st
Here is an example of the one point perspective for your dorm room. If you live in an apartment building that's fine. Just pick a hallway in the building that you live in. Remember all of the lines either go to the vanishing point or are 90 degree angles. Fully render (shade) in pencil.

One Point Perspective Assignment Due Wed, March 14th
Here is the example of your next homework assignment on one point perspective.
Tips:
make six to ten boxes
you can use a straight edge for this
pick your horizon line and vanishing point first
the lines that are not going to the vanishing point are always 90 degrees
start light with your lines and then finish them heavier after you're done
And as always, if you have any questions...let me know.
Have a great weekend.

Contour Drawing of a Shoe
Here is the next drawing homework assignment, a contour drawing of a shoe. Due Wednesday, March 7th. It is similar to the negative space homework, use the nice drawing paper and take up the whole page. Here is an example.

Negative Space Assignment-Due Feb 29th
Here is an example of your next homework assignment. This assignment is to draw the negative space (the space around and between the object). Pick something complicated with complex negative spaces like intertwined wires or a ball of yarn unravelled. Focus on the shapes that the negative space creates and draw those shapes rather than the object/s. This will force you to draw what you really see instead of what you think you see. Remember to vary the weight and quality of your line. Do this on your nice drawing paper and take up the whole page.

Fabric Drawing
Here is an example of a fabric drawing in vine charcoal. As with all homework assignments, I expect that there is charcoal covering the whole page, and a minimum of 6-8 hours spent on it.
Just a friendly reminder which is detailed on the syllabus, homework grades are based on the following...
Effort (as in time spent),
Following directions (correct materials, paper ect.)
Due dates (every class a homework assignment is late, it drops a letter grade, this means that if it is four classes late or more, with the exception of make-up/redos that were turned in on the due date, the homework automatically is graded as an F)
Craftsmanship (neat, proper paper and materials, clean edges no ripped paper! no smudges)

Monday the 20th
Hope you all had a good weekend. Don't forget to bring your pencils tomorrow and if you would like to bring in better quality drawing paper for the still life feel free. Also, the next homework assignment, which is a piece of fabric drawn in vine charcoal, is due this Wednesday. See you all tomorrow.

Homework Assignment #3-Due February 15th
Your next assignment due on Wednesday the 15th will be similar to the appliance assignment. Chose a glass or reflective surface of your choice and draw it in vine charcoal. Again, take up the whole page. We have been doing a lot of this in class, but if you need an example you can refer to the blender for reference.
Have a great weekend and see you all Monday.

Homework Assignment #2
Here is an example that I drew for you this week, which I'm sure all of you have started already...
tips: try to take up the whole page
don't forget about the background (I want to see charcoal on the whole page)
spray it with fixative (outside)
if you're worried about it getting smudged, put a piece of tracing paper over it and tape it to the back so nothing is rubbing against it.
expect to spend 6-8 hours on this (no I'm not joking)
Hope you all had a lovely weekend and see you tomorrow. Message me if you have any questions.

Materials Announcement
It has come to my attention that the bookstore does not have conte pencils. We won't be needing them for a few weeks so there's plenty of time to figure it out before then. See you all tomorrow!

Assignment #1
Assignment #1:
Due 2/1
Create a grayscale using vine charcoal on newsprint.
Make five square boxes (2"x2" each), leaving the first square white
tip: you might want to do your white box (#1) and last box (#5) first and then work your way towards the middle. The middle box (#3) should be half way between white and black.
you can use artist tape around the all the boxes and peel it off at the end to keep it neat.
